What is the difference between love and lust energy?

What is the difference between love and lust on an energetic level? Let’s dive in to this mind-opening topic.

There are plenty of blogs discussing the distinction between love and lust to decipher one’s true feelings for another person. But, let’s take a fresh angle and explore their energetic differences and how understanding them can help enhance your life.

The spiritual community, yoga tradition, and even notable names such as Einstein, view all living things as energy. Thus, we are essentially walking manifestations of energy.

Keeping lust energy in check whilst growing love energy will help you raise your frequency, keeping lower vibrational feelings such as fear and grief under control, and enhancing higher vibrational feelings of self-belief, happiness and kindness.

Let’s start unravelling the answer to: what is the difference between love and lust energy?

Developing an understanding: What is the difference between love and lust energy

Love is a powerful energy. I would argue the most powerful and transformative. It envelopes us with comfort and exhilarations, fostering forgiveness and nurturing deep connections.

On the other hand, lust revolves around physical desire.

Let’s delve deeper into both:

Love

Love can be felt as energetic waves from the heart when you are attuned to your heart space. Perhaps you’ve experienced this when you are near someone you love or have a crush on. There’s an intense attraction that goes beyond the physical.

The feeling of love is also selfless. To love is to show you care. We can take this further and include unconditional love, which knows no bounds and quickly understands. It’s often associated with the parent and child bond.

More so, love is a devotion to growth and harmony. When you love a family member or friend, you are making a long-term commitment to uplift and support each other.

Lust

Lust, in contrast, is driven by physical attraction, emanating from the root chakra. It seeks personal gratification and short-term pleasures.

Cultivating more: What is the difference between love and lust energy?

There are many activities in life that can cultivate love or lust energy. Here are some examples that you may find you partake in:

Love

  • Showing empathy
  • Being affectionate
  • Practising self-care and self-love
  • Acts of kindness
  • Expressing compassion
  • Being understanding
  • Forgiving others
  • Being faithful in your religion
  • Meditating on the heart chakra
  • Appreciation of nature

Lust

  • Listening to low frequency music
  • Watching porn or OnlyFans / frequent masturbation
  • Frequent casual sex
  • Flirting or having an emotional affair outside of a relationship

The spiritual and energetic benefits of love and lust

As you can see, there’s a stark difference between what cultivates love and lust energies. However, although love leads to a more abundant inner life, lust has its few benefits.

Firstly, love. Love serves as a guiding force. It urges us to lead with our hearts and do what resonates with us on a deep level.

For me, love is the most powerful force in my life. I use it to help me make kind and the best decisions in life, along with listening to my intuition / soul. Have you given this a go?

If you are a Christian, you may be more attuned to your heart chakra and inner wisdom than you believe.

For Christians, love is the most important aspect of faith and spirituality. Love reigns above all and helps with many, if not all, aspects of life. For example, overcoming hard times, showing empathy, and being kind to yourself, such as through self-love practices.

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love,” – 1 Corinthians 13:13

“The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” – Exodus 34:6

As for lust energy, it can be beneficial when you are looking to forge new romance in your life as lust can lead to love when it’s developed between two, compatible people.

The energetic power of lust within an existing relationship can help foster deeper sexual chemistry and pleasure. Thus, it can lead to longer-lasting, happier relationships.

Chakras: What is the difference between love and lust energy?

Let’s uncover the answer to what is the difference between love and lust energy in terms of the chakra system…

Chakra healing has been used as a spiritual and life practice for centuries. Reiki masters live by it.

You too can experience the positive healing effects of the energetic system by growing your understanding of the chakras.

Solar plexus chakra

The solar plexus represents confidence and personal power. This central chakra builds our sense of self. When and our sacral chakra is out of balance, we can experience feelings of self-doubt and insecurity.

It sits between the heart and sacral chakra and can thus greatly help to balance both. It’s incredible to think that greater self-assurance can help to foster love in all contexts and tame short-term desires associated with the sacral chakra.

Heart chakra (love energy)

The heart chakra is the energetic centre for love for oneself, compassion, empathy and forgiveness. All elements of life which are transformative and nurturing

You can think of the heart chakra as the mother who loves her child unconditionally and wants the best for them. As well as supporting them to grow as their own person.

Sacral chakra (lust energy)

Now for the sacral chakra. According to yoga tradition, the sacral chakra is associated with sensuality and creativity. The primary objective of this energy centre is pleasure and enjoyment in life.

Thus you can see why the sacral chakra is so easily activated in lustful moments.

It’s also important to note that when this lower vibration is strong, it can lead to the outbalance of higher chakras. That’s why understanding and keeping lust and the root chakra in control is important in life.

High and low frequencies: what’s the difference between love and lust in this context?

Our energy affects what frequency we are currently living in. Living primarily in love energy transmits and develops a high frequency, and the latter low frequency when we live in lust energy.

However, love and lust are not the only energies that can affect whether we live in a high or low frequency.

Here are some other contributors:

High frequency:

  • Acceptance
  • Gratitude
  • Optimism

Low frequency:

  • Anger
  • Jealousy
  • Resentment
  • Fear

In many religions, love is seen as a primary principle that uplifts positive aspects of life. It’s considered the reigning energy, encouraging higher frequency emotions and actions, leading to a more fulfilling existence.

You can choose to kick lustful thoughts and short term pleasures to the curb to live a life full of genuine love.

Balancing of love and lust energies and vibrations

Lust can be exhilarating and actually help to enhance the higher vibrations of love energy when the two energetic centres work harmoniously.

One may find that this energetic balance activates during and after having sex with a loved one, releasing feelings of security, comfort and self-assurance.

Moreover, you can heighten these positive and uplifting feelings when you become apt at balancing both energetic centres at all times of the day. This takes little practice for those who naturally experience small amounts of lust and who have great self confidence.

However, in today’s world, where lust often dominates (think of tv and internet) along with fear (think systematic control and societal pressures), the many who want to get their lustful desires and feelings under control can expect to achieve this higher vibrational state of being with daily dedication.

How to cultivate greater love energy?

The life-changing task here is to separate both energies and grow the higher vibrational love energy to be, feel and do your best in life when they are both in balance.

However, there will always be slip-ups and moments of lust (we’re only human). But as long as love takes the lead, you will feel the positive effects on your overall wellbeing and life.

Let’s get into how you can do this, starting today.

Meditation

The most effective way to cultivate love energy is by increasing your self-awareness. Why not add meditation into your routine as a self-care and spiritual practice? Even 15 minutes a day to start with can help grow your meditation skill.

Once you become self-aware enough through meditation to recognise what love feels like physically and as a vibration/energy, you’ll soon start to recognise how love and lust energies can easily mix. No wonder people often have difficulty deciphering between the two!

You will also be able to feel where the energies originate in your chakra system which will ultimately lead you to have greater control over their energies.

Focusing on mental wellbeing

Your mentality can act as a barrier or catalyst for love. When we focus on lack in life rather than abundance and acceptance, we tend to vibrate lower.

Focusing on lack can look like complaining, a lack of motivation, and frustration. Abundance includes gratitude and optimism

Use your mind to tune into a more abundant way of thinking which is fostered by focusing on heart chakra. Also, your intuitive desires, to be more heart-led in life and grow in spirituality. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram for support.

Love on those you care about

It may sound obvious, but the easiest way to grow in love energy is by showing love everyday by actively deepening connections with friends and family:

  1. Listen to those who share their feelings with you and respond genuinely
  2. Offer support to those in need whilst not showing too much support that they forget their own strength.
  3. Don’t hold onto grudges. Forgive those you love, knowing that they wouldn’t hurt you intentionally.
  4. Release expectations of others and allow them to be themselves.
  5. Build a life that helps others i.e. charitable work, helping hard-off family members out financially, sharing food or caring for animals or plants.

The more you practise loving yourself and others, the more you will feel and experience love and its powerful energy and influence on your life.

If you struggle to express love to others, this may very well be an indication that you need to focus on the love you have for yourself first. Check out my blog on 5 Ways to Love Yourself More to get on the right track.

Build a relationship with God

I’m a firm believer that life, in all its craziness and complexities, cannot be a coincidence. This quote by Einstein sums it up:

“The more I study science, the more I believe in God”.

If you are already a Christian, deepen your relationship with God by speaking to Him more often through prayer or meditation. Ask him to help balance your energy and renew your heart.

I also find that speaking to God throughout my day helps me feel closer to his grace and love.

If you are considering becoming a Chrisitian, I recommend following Bible pages on Instagram for daily verses and short lessons:

You could also read a Children’s Bible to start understanding the core teachings and principles of the Bible. Even better when you can share the experience with your child.

It might sound silly to read a Children’s Bible as an adult. However, the biblical stories are shortened and simplified, creating an easier to understand text. I have read this Children’s Bible 3 times and highly recommend it.
